Centrica-owned British Gas has purchased a good 15.96% ownership in the energy management company ‘AlertMe’. This was done for a hefty sum of £5.7 million. This would further enhance the company’s reputation and help it in giving better home energy services and products to the customers who would in turn be happy and content.

These products and services simply help people manage their energy consumption and bills through a computer or even smart phone for that matter. British Gas is currently having a lot of hopes on its smart meters. This teaming up with AlertMe will see the home area network platform greatly let their customers enjoy the efficiency offered by today’s advanced technology.

The various AlertMe tools will see people saving time and energy managing things from the very comforts of their homes. British Gas is not the only investor who has partnered with AlertMe. Good Energies and Index Ventures are some of the other reputed names that have also teamed up with AlertMe.

This, even as electricity metering company OnStream, for a sum of two and a half million sterling pounds joined hands with Logica for its communication, data and pre-payment service. The company too is looking as giving away about 26,000 smart meters to its customers.
