One being the fact that this winter is chillier then has been in many a years, two is that common households are feeling the heat in the form of their ever increasing monthly gas and energy bills and last but not the least, the energy and gas companies are making a killing thus. British Gas was among the first names that increased its energy and gas prices. This hike was again increased by as much as seven percent at the very onset of December last year.
Talking of numbers, it was only Last autumn that the leading six energy firms enjoyed an impressive £65-a-year profit per customer. This number has again soared big time this winter which is seeing a profit of as much as £97 per customer annually. In the mean while, even as oil prices continue to soar, energy and gas prices soar subsequently as well.

British Gas, Managing Director, Phil Bentley is at the same time not one bit perturbed with the accusations going on about the energy companies charging inhumanly high prices. This is the same as many of the other leading gas and energy companies who feel that they are charging pretty reasonable yet and they have not intentionally hiked the prices. At the same time leading UK regulator, Ofgem, is already looking into the matter and investigating as to how appropriate the prices set by energy companies are.
Bentley states the fact here that British Gas energy bills for an average households only in the last year of 2010 were a good £100 lesser then back in 2008.for once, he doesn’t see how people are complaining and why at that. Add to this the £50 credit that British Gas is giving to the 340,000 low income customers that are signed and listed on its Essentials tariff.
